OUR COMPANY OVER TIME
Silk twisting has always been associated with Ongetta.
Our family started operating within the silk industry at the beginning of the 1900s, funding the first silk twisting productive plant in the 1930s. During the years, merging craftsmen abilities with research and innovation, we sided the production of silk discontinuous and mixed yarns to our core business: silk continuous filaments. In 2000, we transferred our productive sites in the new, larger plants. Our company has been the first to enter into the GOTS panorama, obtaining this certification in 2013. In the meantime, we developed and widened our expertise with fabrics. We are now able to provide a wide range of both 100%silk and mixed fabrics to our customers.

The production of silk has a long tradition and history, which are also related to Italy. We inherited and developed this tradition, producing yarns which are used today by several weaving mills – both in and outside our Country – and in several fields, from fashion to interior design.

We widened our expertise to fabrics, starting to sell both 100% silk and mixed ones. This has increased our willingness to find new solutions and new items, and it has also allowed us to establish our role, in the Como area as well as outside our national borders.

Our frequent on-site visits to suppliers and partners allowed us to create well-established business relations based on mutual trust, always keeping a close eye on silk traceability. We are also active in the Como area, where we attentively select our weaving mills, dyers and printworks. Each actor of this chain is certified, ensuring full traceability of our items.
Optimising dispatch
and delivery schedules_
We can count on a well-organised, constantly supplied warehouse, divided between yarn and fabric lots. We are set up as to dispatch an order within around 48 hours, whether this comes from within or without our national borders.
